Mr. V. Krishnamurthi – The Heart Behind DGSEA

Mr. V. Krishnamurthi, the Founder-Chairman of the Duraisamy Generous Social Education Association (DGSEA), is a respected social worker and passionate advocate for marginalized communities in Kancheepuram Chengalpattu Districts, Tamil Nadu. Coming from a middle-class family with a legacy of educators and social workers, Mr. Krishnamurthi's journey was shaped by a personal tragedy—losing his mother at the age of one. This loss instilled in him a deep empathy for vulnerable children, motivating him to provide orphans and destitute children with the love, care, and support he missed.

From a young age, Mr. Krishnamurthi displayed qualities of compassion, selflessness, and a sense of duty. After completing his education and training as a teacher, he spent his career nurturing students, treating them with the same care as his own children. Yet, during his social work in the rural areas, he saw firsthand the poverty and neglect faced by countless children who lacked basic needs and support.

Determined to make a difference, he founded the Duraisamy Generous Social Education Association with the help of like-minded individuals. DGSEA, registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, began by establishing an orphanage that offered food, shelter, clothing, and education to these children. As the need grew, separate homes for boys and girls were created, each now housing over 100 children and a Home for the senior citizens, with support from partners like APEX CLUB OF MADRAS.

Through his tireless efforts, Mr. Krishnamurthi created institutions that offer safety, security, and hope to children, women and senior citizens embodying his lifelong dedication to uplifting those in need.

Mr. V. Krishnamurthi passed away at the age of 95, leaving behind a profound legacy of compassion, dedication, and lasting impact through the Duraisamy Generous Social Education Association, which continues to uplift and support countless lives.

Mr. Kumar Krishnamurthi Chairman
"A Journey of Service and Compassion"

Kumar Krishnamurthi was born into a middle-class, orthodox family in a remote village deeply rooted in agriculture. His family owned a significant portion of the village land, providing employment and fostering a self-sufficient community. A family-run primary school in the village provided Kumar with his early education, but secondary schooling required him to travel to a neighbouring village. Before he could complete his studies, family circumstances led them to relocate, altering the course of his life.

Kumar’s father, a dedicated teacher in a nearby village, also took responsibility for orphaned children in a home attached to the school. Accompanying his father to this home, Kumar became aware of the profound need for compassion and support for children without parental care. This early exposure laid the foundation for his lifelong commitment to social service.

Despite financial challenges, Kumar completed his graduation and secured a government job that took him across various regions before finally settling in Chennai. His roles with both the State Government and the Government of India helped him develop essential skills, build valuable relationships, and cultivate a network of supportive contacts.

Driven by his father’s mission, Kumar joined him to establish an NGO, channeling their efforts to support children, women, and senior citizens. He also became an active member of the Apex Club of Madras, an organization devoted to social service. Through personal connections and collaborations with other service organizations, he furthered the mission of DGSEA, an NGO committed to the welfare of vulnerable communities.

Over the years, Kumar took on leadership roles within Apex, gaining recognition and expanding his outreach globally. His involvement with Dignity Foundation, an organization focused on the well-being of senior citizens, added another dimension to his service-oriented journey.

Following his father’s passing, Kumar assumed the role of Chairman of the NGO, honoring his father’s legacy while strengthening his commitment to social welfare. Today, he continues to lead with compassion and dedication, bridging resources and support to bring positive change to the lives of those in need.
